13 Lent Breakfasts - Meatless Lent Breakfast Ideas

Published: Feb 28, 2025 by Elizabeth · This post contains affiliate links.

These Lent Breakfasts are hearty, no-meat options for Lent this year. Both sweet and savory breakfast ideas for your Lenten Fridays!

During Lent we fast from meat on Fridays, to take on a more penitential posture. The fast from meat is a reminder of Jesus' own sacrifice for us. Meat is often seen as a celebratory food, so abstinence from meat specifically is proposed to us as a way to practice simplicity.

While many breakfast options are already meatless, if you're looking for a hearty, protein-backed breakfast with gluten-free options, this list is for you!

Of course, all of my recipes are plant-based, but this is a collection of lent breakfasts that use non-meat protein sources like beans and protein powders. Perfect for Friday breakfasts.

Check out my Lent dinners collection, for 21 hearty dinner ideas And head over to my Lent soups collection for a list of hearty meatless soups.
