If you're looking for an easy, quick, and amazingly tasty Thanksgiving dish, you've come to the right place. Sweet potatoes are a classic Thanksgiving food (though I definitely advocate eating them all year). So sweet potatoes + bourbon + glaze = Thanksgiving perfection.

    Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Before I dive into all the sweet potato goodness, let me talk to you about sweet potatoes. (See what I did there... I really love sweet potatoes.)

Sweet potatoes are: delicious, easy, nutritious, and versatile.

    Delicious

They are sweet, but can be used in savory dishes too. Or dressed up to be much sweeter than they actually are (like in this recipe).

They have a slightly earthy taste that balances out the sweetness.

    Easy

Sweet potatoes are hard to mess up. Usually you bake or roast them -- when they're soft, they're done. It doesn't take that much more effort than that.

    Nutritious

Sweet potatoes are loaded with vitamin A. They are also high in vitamin C, potassium, manganese, and many other nutrients. Make sure you eat the skin to get all the amazing fiber!

    Versatile

You can do almost anything with a sweet potato. Below are some of my favorite sweet potato recipes:

    • Peanut Butter Sweet Potato Bread
    • Sweet Potato Tempeh Hash
    • Sweet Spiced Sweet Potato Fries
    • Sweet Potato Kale Salad with Lemon Molasses Dressing
    • Sweet Potato Blondies
    • Baked Sweet Potato Fries
    • Sweet Potato Brownies
    • Sweet Potato Soup
    • Roasted Japanese Sweet Potato Rounds
    • Balsamic Roasted Cauliflower and Sweet Potato
    • Sweet Potato Hummus

I am 0% sorry about how long that list is. Sweet potatoes are incredible and 100% worth incorporating into your diet regularly.

And these Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potatoes are a perfect recipe to start with. There's nothing fancy going on here, only a few ingredients and a few steps. And the result is sweet, sticky, slightly boozy, sweet potatoes. It's like eating Thanksgiving dessert at dinner.

    Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potatoes

    Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes: All you'll need is a couple of regular sweet potatoes. For this recipe, I cut them into cubes, but you could also cut them into wedges -- whatever you prefer.

Date Syrup: This creates the glaze. Date syrup gets super sticky and caramelized in the oven. YUM.

Bourbon: A tablespoon or two of bourbon adds a hint of booze without going overboard. If you don't want to cook with alcohol, you can leave out the bourbon and will still have some delicious, sticky sweet potatoes, but I highly recommend adding the bourbon for flavor!

Salt & Pepper: Add salt and pepper to your personal taste. This recipe is delicious without it, but a pinch of salt creates that sweet and salty combo that is irresistible.

How to make Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Step 1. Preheat your oven to 400 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lining the baking sheet is critical -- the date syrup gets really sticky and when it cooks it will stick to the pan.

Step 2. Chop the sweet potato into small chunks.

Step 3. In a medium bowl, toss the sweet potatoes in date syrup and bourbon. Then spread them on the baking sheet.

Step 4. Bake for 35 minutes, stirring halfway through. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and enjoy!
