This grapefruit mocktail is a non-alcoholic version of a paloma, with a sweet and tangy grapefruit flavor. A fun and refreshing pink drink!

I love grapefruit! It's sweet and tart and pretty pink!
Because of the natural tartness, grapefruit is the perfect candidate for a mocktail - the tartness means we don't have to do much to mimic the bite of alcohol.
Grapefruit is the key ingredient in a paloma, a drink made with grapefruit juice and tequila. So this grapefruit mocktail is basically a version of a paloma!

- Great for kids and adults - the kids can have fun feeling like an adult and the adults can enjoy a cocktail without the effects of alcohol
- Pink drink - this paloma mocktail would make a festive Valentine's day drink or bright spring cocktail

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Grapefruit Juice: use a grapefruit juicer or a handheld citrus reamer
- Lime Juice: fresh lime juice is best! If you don't have a lime, use a lemon
- Apple Cider Vinegar: I often use apple cider vinegar to replace alcohol in my mocktails. Of course, we won't use an entire shot's worth - just enough for the bite
- Maple Simple Syrup: my Maple Simple Syrup recipe is SO easy. It's just like a regular simple syrup - a 1:1 ratio of maple syrup to water. You can also use regular simple syrup.
- Ice Cubes
- Seltzer Water: regular seltzer water, sparkling water, or club soda are all great. For an extra grapefruit flavor, try grapefruit Spindrift
- Grapefruit Wedges: to rim the glass and garnish
- Coarse Salt: to rim the glass
- To rim the glass: kosher salt or celery salt & a lime wedge

Step-By-Step Instructions
Step 1. Rim glass with salt. Pour the salt onto a small plate. Rub a slice of grapefruit around the edge of the glass, then roll in the plate of salt.

Step 2. Mix the grapefruit juice, lime juice, apple cider vinegar, maple simple syrup in your glass.

Step 3. Add the ice to the glass.

Step 4. Fill your glass almost to the top with seltzer.

Step 5. Garnish with with a grapefruit wedge.

FAQ & Expert Tips
Homemade cocktails are flexible! If you prefer a sweeter drink, add more maple simple syrup. Or for a more tangy drink, add some extra grapefruit juice. Make it your own!
If you want to add alcohol, skip the apple cider vinegar and add a shot of tequila instead. You may use slightly less seltzer water.
If you make several and have leftovers, a large mason jar is perfect for storage. The drink will last in the fridge for up to a week.
