Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Hot Water + Black Tea Bag: instead of whiskey, these mocktails use tea as the base. Tea is more neutral but still has a bit of a bite, to mimic the whiskey flavor.
- Cinnamon Stick: if you don't have cinnamon sticks, about ⅛ teaspoon of ground cinnamon will work too. Just strain the mixture before drinking.
- Fresh Ginger: fresh ginger is great for when you're feeling sick and also adds a nice bite
- Lemon: fresh juice is best!
- Honey or Maple Syrup: honey has many antimicrobial and healing properties - it's great if you are sick. Use maple syrup as a totally vegan option.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: another great ingredient for when you're sick - it's also antimicrobial
- Garnish: sliced lemon, apple slice, cinnamon stick, star anise
