    What is Tzatziki Sauce?

Tzatziki is a dip found in Southeast Europe and the Middle East. It's usually served as an appetizer or side dish with falafel or pita. Or on top of a main dish like souvlaki and gyros.

My vegan version is based off of the traditional recipe, with a few plant-based substitutes.

Why I love this Plant-Based Tzatziki Sauce

    • Dietary needs - this sauce is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, oil-free, and sugar free
    • Quick dressing - ready in less than five minutes!
    • Vegan version of a classic - vegan yogurt is the perfect substitute for regular yogurt. You probably won't even notice the difference!

    Ingredient Notes

    • Non-Dairy Yogurt: Look for non-dairy yogurt in the refrigerated section. Choose a yogurt with no added sugar and as few ingredients as possible - ideally no gums or preservatives. An almond or cashew yogurt is best in this recipe because they have a neutral flavor.
    • Grated Cucumber: use a box grater to shred the cucumber. If you don't have a grater, use a knife to finely chop the cucumber.
    • Lemon Juice: fresh juice is best. You could also use lime juice.
    • Fresh Dill: you could use dried dill as a sub.
    • Fresh Mint: you could use dried mint as a sub.
    • Garlic: you could sub garlic powder.
    • Salt
