Make crispy jicama fries in your air fryer! These oil-free fries are loaded with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder for a super tasty fry that's crisp and crunchy!

You can make fries out of just about anything. Besides the obvious russet potato fries and sweet potato fries, there's also more veggie forward fries like zucchini fries. And these jicama fries!
These jicama fries are a lighter, lower carb/calorie version of fries. And because jicama is naturally so crisp and crunchy, the fries still have a lovely texture.
Plus, since jicama is pretty neutral in flavor, you can add some delicious spices to create a bold fry that you'll crave!

What is jicama?
Jicama is a root vegetable. It is usually a circular shape with a brown skin.
The inside flesh is white. And it has a texture somewhat like an apple. Though not as sweet.
You can buy jicama in most grocery stores in its whole form in the produce section. It's also typically available in the prepared vegetables section, already peeled and cut into sticks.

Why I love these Air Fryer Jicama Fries
- Dietary needs - these fries are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, oil-free, and sugar free
- Can be made in the air fryer or oven - the air fryer makes these fries extra crispy, but if you don't have an air fryer you can totally make these fries in the oven.
- Veggie forward - eating fries while eating your veggies?! It's a perfect combo.
- Perfect side or snack - these fries are quick and easy to make and can be served as part of a meal or eaten alone as a snack
- Healthy fries - these fries are baked or air fried without any oil!

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Jicama: feel free to buy a whole jicama and peel it or buy the pre-cut jicama in the packaged produce section
- Water: a bit of water helps the spices stick to the jicama
- Liquid Smoke: this is my secret ingredient in many meat recipes that I turn vegan. Liquid smoke adds a smoky flavor and helps deepen the overall flavor of the dish. Find liquid smoke in the grocery store near the condiments

- Salt & Pepper

FAQ & Expert Tips
Boiling helps to soften the jicama so the fries can be crispy but not hard.
Feel free to add your favorite spices. Oregano, basil, and parsley would all be great additions.
I recommend that you eat these fries straight out of the oven - they will still be crispy and hot. If you don't finish them all, you can store them in the fridge for a week.
Reheat the fries in the oven or air fryer until warm to avoid soggy fries.
