Easy Cherry Lemonade is a sweet, tart, bright drink made with fresh cherries and lemon juice. This refreshing drink is easy to make and sweetened with agave.

    A pitcher of cherry lemonade.

When it's hot and sticky outside, it's so nice to have a cold, refreshing beverage.

I've been quite into mocktails lately but the sweet-tart combo of lemonade is growing on me. And this easy cherry lemonade is that perfect balance.

I love that this cherry lemonade features fresh summer cherries (or frozen if you want) and can be sweetened to your preference, with any sweetener of your choice.

I recommend my agave simple syrup, which has a light flavor that pairs so perfectly with this lemonade. But brown sugar syrup, maple simple syrup, or even date syrup all produce a delicious and unique lemonade!

Why You'll Love this Cherry Lemonade

    • Easy to make - Just blend, strain & stir.
    • Vegan and refined sugar-free - Naturally sweetened with agave, or your sweetener of choice! Suggestions below.
    • Fresh & fruity - The combo of lemon and cherry is tangy, sweet, and bold.
    • Perfect for summer - Refreshing served cold over ice

    Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

    • Agave Simple Syrup: I used my agave simple syrup. This recipe would be great with brown sugar syrup, maple simple syrup, date syrup, or stevia.
    • Cherries: I used fresh, but in a previous version of this recipe I specifically called for frozen. Both work great! If you want to use frozen cherries, thaw on the counter or in the microwave. Save any juice and add it to the blender.
    • Lemons: juicing fresh lemons is ideal, but store-bought juice can work in a pinch. Or try with lime juice for a limeade vibe.
    • Water
    • Ice
    • Lemon Slices or Wedges: for serving. This is optional of course, but a little garnish makes the drink feel more fancy

    Two glasses of cherry lemonade.

Pro Tip: Turn into a sparkling drink by replacing the water with seltzer.

    FAQ & Expert Tips

    Can I make this ahead?

Yes this cherry lemonade will last in the fridge for up to a week.

Can I skip straining the cherries?

Straining gives a smoother texture, but it's optional. Unstrained cherries will give more of a slushie vibe.

    Notes

This recipe has been revamped and updated for better quality and flavor. If you enjoyed the previous version of this recipe, I've pasted it below:
    Ingredients
    ½ Cup Frozen Cherries
    2 Cups Boiling Water
1 Teaspoon Date Syrup +/- to taste
    ¼ Cup Lemon Juice
    3 Cups Cold Water
    Instructions
Step 1. In a microwave-safe dish, heat the cherries on high for 1 minute. This will release their juices for maximum cherry flavor!
Step 2. Soak the cherries and your desired amount of date syrup in 2 cups of boiling water for 10 minutes. It helps to add the date syrup to hot water so it completely dissolves. Strain and press the cherries for extra juice. Remember, we want as much cherry flavor in this lemonade as possible.
Step 3. Add the lemon juice and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well. Taste for sweetness and add additional date syrup, if desired. Note that as the lemonade cools it will be harder to dissolve the date syrup.
Step 4. Refrigerate for at least an hour, until the lemonade is cool. Enjoy!
