A sweet twist on the classic sweet potato fries, these Sweet Spiced Sweet Potato Fries satisfy those mid-day sweet cravings.

    Sweet Spiced Sweet Potato Fries

Another day, another sweet potato recipe. I hope you love sweet potatoes because the recipes aren't stopping anytime soon. When I started my Elimination Diet, I decided to use sweet potatoes as my base food. So lots of my future recipes will likely involve some type of sweet potato.

If you haven't jumped on the sweet potato train, you definitely should. Sweet potatoes have tons of nutrients. Specifically, they are packed with Vitamin A and contain tons of fiber. Sweet potatoes also boast Vitamins B5 and B6 as well as some minerals like copper, manganese, and potassium.

PSA: an 8 ounce serving of sweet potato (about half a large potato) has almost twice as much potassium as a banana. Not that I have anything against bananas... They're one of my favorite foods (along with sweet potatoes, of course).

Anyways, let's dive into these Sweet Spiced Sweet Potato Fries. These fries are very similar to my Baked Sweet Potato Fries, which are seasoned with paprika and other savory spices. But, as the name suggests, they're sweet! As in, sweeter than plain sweet potatoes.

    Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes: Just your average sweet potatoes are perfect. Make sure you wash them, but don't remove the skins - this is where the fiber is.

Spices. I love the combination of cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. In fact, I use it in my turmeric latte recipes (iced and hot). Even though they are traditionally fall spices, they all have that sugariness that works well in sweet recipes.

Vanilla. For some extra aroma and a hint of flavor, we'll add some vanilla extract.

How to Make Sweet Spiced Sweet Potato Fries

    This recipe is super simple.

Step 1. Slice up a sweet potato into fry-shaped wedges, toss on some vanilla extract and water, mix in the cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. The prep time is seriously less than 5 minutes.

Step 2. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the fries are nice and crispy. Remove from the oven and enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 1 Large Sweet Potato
    • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
    • 2 Teaspoons Allspice
    • 1 Teaspoon Nutmeg
    • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • ¼-1/2 Teaspoon Salt

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 425. Slice the sweet potato into fry-shaped rectangles. Depending on the size of your potato you may want to cut it in half to get the right length. Then cut into slices and finally fry-shaped rectangles.
    • Mix the spices together, then in a medium bowl mix in with the sweet potatoes. Add the vanilla and 2 teaspoons of water to help the spices stick to the fries. Spread the potatoes onto a baking sheet.
    • Bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Remove from the oven and enjoy!
