    • Dietary needs - this hot honey is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, oil-free, and refined sugar free
    • Quick and easy - ready in about five minutes!
    • Versatile - d can use this sauce for any stir fry or teriyaki!
    • Vegan version of a classic - this homemade hot honey is a plant-based version of the trendy sauce
    • Just as flavorful - just because it doesn't have oil, doesn't mean it isn't delicious. This dressing is loaded with flavor and will be the star of your salad

    Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

    • Agave or Vegan Honey: I used blue agave. Vegan honey also works - it has more of a clover-like taste, if you prefer that
    • Frank's Red Hot: or any other hot sauce (some hot sauces have butter, so double check the ingredients before buying!)
    • Red Pepper Flakes: for texture and extra heat
    • Apple Cider Vinegar: a bit of acid helps balance all the flavors

    FAQ & Expert Tips

    Storage

Store this vegan honey in an airtight container for up to three months. I used these beautiful jars that come with spouts and lids!

Can I adjust the heat level in homemade hot honey?

Yes! Start by making the recipe as-is. If you want it more spicy, add more red hot. If it's too spicy, add more agave.

Does hot honey need to be refrigerated?

In general hot honey does not need to be refrigerated, but I recommend refrigerating this vegan version because it isn't made with real honey. Plus, there's no risk of crystallization.

How long does vegan hot honey last?

This honey will last around 3 months in the fridge when stored in a sealed container.

    Is hot honey vegan?

No. Regular hot honey is not vegan because honey is not vegan. Honey is an animal product, so it doesn't fit the strict definition of vegan.
This version made with agave is vegan though!
