Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Apple Cider: the base of this drink is apple cider! Most apple ciders are naturally refined sugar free - look for one with only apples on the ingredient list
- Gingerbread Syrup: my homemade gingerbread syrup is DIVINE. Truly my best syrup. And so easy to make!
- Ginger Beer or Ginger Kombucha: I used Q's Ginger Beer - it's sweetened with agave! In my cranberry mule mockail recipe I used GT's ginger kombucha.
- Crushed Ice

To rim the glass
Rimming the glass is optional but very fun!
- Gingerbread Syrup or Water: to dip the glass and adhere the sugar. Extra syrup is sticky and works great, but water is just fine too.
- Turbinado or Pearl Sugar: any thicker sugar works. Or you can use white sugar
- Spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg

Step-By-Step Instructions
Step 1. If desired, rim the glass. Mix the sugar and spices and place in a shallow bowl. Dip the rim of the glass in a shallow bowl of water or syrup, then in the sugar mixture.

Step 2. Add the ice to the glass.

Step 3. Pour on the apple cider and gingerbread syrup. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired.

Pro Tip: Garnish with an orange twist or cinnamon stick to enhance the gingerbread aroma.
FAQ & Expert Tips
Yes! Mix the cider and syrup in a pitcher, then top individual servings with ginger beer to keep the fizz.
I like using ginger kombucha. Ginger ale or a ginger ale substitute (like Poppi or Zevia) also works well.
Christmas vibes: add a shot of bourbon or rye
Traditional: add a shot of vodka or rum
Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to a week. I find that a large mason jar is perfect for efficiently storing leftovers.
