Nighttime Ginger Tea makes the perfect bedtime-routine drink. Warm and soothing, this ginger tea will aid your digestion and help you wind down for the night.

    Nighttime Ginger Tea

Do you guys have a bedtime routine? I remember a time not too long ago when I didn't.

My sleep was terrible. I was exhausted all the time but no matter how hard I tried or didn't try, I couldn't sleep. Some nights I went to bed too hungry and some too full. I worked on homework right up until bed, using my phone or laptop and exposing myself to blue light.

After many nights of waking up just as tired as I was when I went to sleep, I knew something needed to change. So, I started doing some research.

I found out that stress and anxiety could be the cause of my sleeplessness. So I started meditating. I experimented with how much or little I ate and how many hours before bed I should stop eating to feel comfortable at bedtime. I installed a blue light filter on my laptop. (<-- Definitely do this if you haven't already.) I got into the habit reading before bed instead of staring at my phone. And I started drinking Nighttime Ginger Tea.

    A mug of ginger tea.

When I first made Nighttime Ginger Tea, I didn't know what a difference it would make it my routine. One night, I wanted a warm beverage, so I heated up some water and decided I'd sprinkle in some ginger.

Before I started drinking ginger tea, I knew ginger had some health benefits. But I didn't know how much it could help!

After drinking this tea, I realized how much better I felt. My stomach was calm. I felt the muscles relax. And then my stomach didn't bother me one bit when I went to sleep!

So I tried Nighttime Ginger Tea again the next day. And it worked again! I was changed. Now I drink a warm mug of ginger tea every night and I feel great. Try it once and you'll be hooked.

    Nighttime Ginger Tea

    Benefits of Ginger

Ginger can help relieve muscle pain. So if you are sore from a workout, muscle strain, or other activity, ginger can help! It probably won't make pain go away, but it helps relax the muscles.

It also aids in digestion, which is always nice at the end of the day. Since ginger helps relax your muscles, it also does this with your internal organs. It calms them down and allows you to digest the food much more easily.

Ginger relieves nausea and indigestion. I love me some fiber, but sometimes all that extra bulk doesn't agree with me, so ginger is a great spice to help out my belly. Especially if you are feeling bloated, ginger can help relieve the symptoms.

Many other benefits. There are so many things that ginger can do for you, some are more anecdotal and others have been proven with multiple scientific studies. Either way, ginger is a great plant to add to your diet.

Why I love this Nighttime Ginger Tea

    • Quick and easy - you need less than 5 minutes to make this tea, and it's super easy to make with only two ingredients!‍
    • Effective - the calming effects of ginger really work on me, and while the results will be different for everyone, it's worth a try to see if a natural remedy will work for you
    • Superfood benefits - you might take ginger tea for the digestion or relaxation benefits, but you'll get all the incredible antioxidant, cancer-fighting benefits too!

    Ingredient Notes

    • Water
    • Ground Ginger: I use ground ginger for this tea because it is easy and doesn't spoil. If you have access to fresh ginger, you could use that instead (instructions below)

How to make Nighttime Ginger Tea

    Step 1. Boil the water.

Step 2. Place the fresh or ground ginger in a mug. Pour the boiling water over the ginger. Let the ginger steep in the tea for 2-4 minutes.

Step 3. Allow to cool to comfortable drinking temperature. Enjoy!

    Add-in: Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has TONS of benefits and can be a great addition to your ginger tea.

Digestion. Just like ginger, lemon juice aids in digestion. It promotes the production of digestive enzymes, which are what helps you break down your food. Drinking it before bed can help calm down your stomach and promote sleep.

Relieve sore throat. And also gives you that vitamin C to help with your cold. If you're feeling under the weather, a boost of vitamins and antioxidants from lemon juice and ginger will ease your symptoms and help you sleep easy.

Make Lemon Ginger Tea Before Bed

‍Lemon ginger tea might be an even better version of this drink. If you are okay with a bit of tang, lemon juice is a great addition to your bedtime tea.

To make lemon ginger tea before bed, just add 1-2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice to the tea and drink up!

    Happy sleeping!
