What is Honey Butter?
Honey butter is (traditionally) a compound of honey and butter.
You mix softened butter, honey, and maybe some cinnamon for a sweet, rich spread.
Many people make honey butter chicken or honey butter biscuits. It's that full flavor + sweet combo that adds a little something to otherwise basic recipes.

Is Honey Butter Vegan?
Traditional honey butter is not vegan.
Neither honey, nor butter, are technically vegan. Butter is made from dairy, which comes from cows. Honey is also an animal product - it comes from bees.
Strict vegans avoid honey because it is an animal product.
This honey butter IS vegan.
I've created that same rich, decadent, sweet flavor of traditional honey butter without the honey or the butter.
Why I love this Plant-Based Cinnamon Honey Butter
- Dietary needs - this honey butter is completely vegan, gluten-free, oil-free, and refined sugar-free
- Ready in 5 minutes - whip up this honey butter in literally 5 minutes. If you want it super thick and creamy, you'll need to refrigerate it first. But it can easily be ready in just a few quick minutes.
- No Oil, No Butter - this plant-based recipe doesn't have any oil or vegan butter - no not-so-healthy ingredients here
- No Honey - since honey isn't technically vegan, there's no honey in this recipe. If you're not a strict vegan, feel free to use honey in place of the maple syrup

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Tahini: tahini is the 'butter' part of this honey butter. I highly recommend using it as opposed to other nut or seed spreads. If you need a substitute, I recommend almond butter.
- Water
- Maple Syrup: to make this honey butter completely fruit sweetened use date syrup instead. If you're not a strict vegan, you can use honey.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: don't skip the ACV. It helps cut through the density of the tahini. If you don't have ACV you can use regular white vinegar.
- Spices: cinnamon, salt, nutmeg & ginger. Using several spices really rounds out this dish and helps eliminate any bitterness from the tahini. But if you want to skip on the nutmeg and ginger, the honey butter will still taste delicious.

How to make Plant-Based Honey Butter
Step 1. Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl.
Step 2. For extra creamy honey butter, refrigerate for 30 minutes, until the mixture is thick.
Step 3. Enjoy!
