    Sweet Potato Hummus

I love hummus BUT most hummus you find at the store is filled with unhealthy ingredients and oils. Yikes!

I don't know about you, but I don't want to eat all those preservatives that they stick in those things. And oils -- have you read about what oils do to your body? They basically constrict your arteries. Read more here.

Good news, though, my Sweet Potato Hummus recipe doesn't have any added preservatives OR oil. And with only 6 healthy ingredients you'll be nourishing your body when you make this hummus, not harming it.

Well I've told you what's NOT in my Sweet Potato Hummus, what exactly is IN Sweet Potato Hummus??

    A happy, healthy, 6 ingredients.

    Sweet Potato Hummus

    Ingredients

    Sweet Potato (baked)

If you couldn't tell by the name, this hummus contains sweet potato! Sweet potatoes are a nutritious vegetable (yes, vegetable) filled with Vitamin A and plenty of fiber!

Plus, the sweet potato gives this hummus a beautiful orange color. So fall 🙂

    Chickpeas

The key ingredient in hummus is garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas)! Chickpeas have good-for-you plant-protein and pack even more fiber into this hummus.

    Aquafaba

You might not have heard the name aquafaba, but you definitely know what it is. Aquafaba is the liquid that you find in a can of chickpeas. Many recipes ask you to drain this liquid, but aquafaba is soo versatile -- it's definitely worth it to keep around. Aquafaba also adds some extra chickpea flavor to the hummus. It's a win-win.

    Sunflower Seed Butter

Many hummus recipes call for Tahini, which is made from sesame seeds, but I love the flavor that sunflower seeds give in this recipe. The nuttiness adds a special kick while complementing the sweetness of the sweet potato.

Always choose a brand without added sugars or oils. This is what I used.

    Garlic

For flavor and about 8 billion health benefits!

    Lemon Juice

A couple teaspoons adds that extra something -- a classic hummus ingredient!

How to make Sweet Potato Hummus

To make the hummus, simply combine all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and process until completely smooth. It only takes a couple minutes! Enjoy some delicious plant food!
