This Vegan Blueberry Crumble recipe is a quick, healthy dessert. Juicy blueberries topped with a sweet, crunchy oat topping. Cooks in just 25 minutes!

A spoon in a pan of blueberry crumble.

I have a friend who is absolutely OBSESSED with blueberries. Every time I ask for flavor suggestions or recipe ideas, he always suggests something with blueberries.

While he is probably slightly crazy, I'm happy to oblige. Blueberries are incredible. They are sweet and juicy. And one of the healthiest foods you can eat.

I know there's a lot of talk about superfoods. People debate which foods provide an insane amount of nutrition. There isn't always consensus, but I firmly believe that the best superfoods are the ones that are available and affordable. Like blueberries!

    What is a crumble?

There are three types of baked fruit desserts, topped with a pastry.

    Crisps. Crumbles. Cobblers.

Cobblers are usually topped with biscuit dough, creating a more solid topping. Almost like a pie crust.

Crumbles and crisps are more similar. Crisps have an oat topping, while crumbles may not. But these two terms are pretty interchangeable.

So, a crumble is a delicious baked dish, with fruit on the bottom and a crispy, crumbly, and sweet oat topping.

Why I love this Vegan Blueberry Crumble Recipe

    • Dietary needs - this recipe is vegan and gluten free. And with blueberries and maple syrup used to sweeten, it's also refined sugar free. You won't find any vegan butter here - this recipe is also oil-free.
    • 5 ingredients - yep, you only need 5 ingredients for this recipe. And you probably already have them at home!
    • Single serve - for those times when you just want to eat the entire pan
    • Easy to make - you don't really need any special equipment (though a cherry pitter is nice to have) and you only need a couple of bowls and like 5 minutes to prep this crumble
    • Tasty summer dessert - you can make the most of summer berry season AND your friends and family will never know this recipe is vegan and gluten-free
    • But also great year round - use frozen berries for a delicious dessert any time of year

    Ingredient Notes

    • Frozen Blueberries: Frozen is hands down the way to go! If you have fresh, the recipe will turn out mostly the same.
    • Rolled Oats: The classic crumble topping. Quick oats will also work.
    • Maple Syrup: The maple flavor is so good in this crumble. It complements the blueberries so well! If you want to keep this crumble completely sugar free, you could use date syrup instead.
    • Oat or Almond Flour: Adding a bit of flour helps the crumble bind together.
    • Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the sweetness!
