    Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus

I'll make myself one of my favorite hummus recipes, like Sweet Potato Hummus, Beet Hummus, or Baba Ganoush Hummus.

I could probably eat a whole batch of hummus in one sitting. And this Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus recipe is no exception.

    Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus

I've always loved paprika. Paprika is a very popular spice in Hungary, and I'm half Hungarian, so I grew up eating the spice in many dishes.

I don't remember when, but one day I discovered smoked paprika and it changed everything. Regular paprika is sweet, but smoked paprika mixes sweet and smoky for this amazing, deep flavor. It's incredible.

Now occasionally you'll see paprika sprinkled lightly on store-bought hummus, but with my love of smoked paprika, I really wanted to make it the star of the dish. This hummus recipe is definitely about the paprika.

Despite the highlight of paprika in this dish, I'd be remiss to not take a few minutes sentences to talk about the garlic.

Normal hummus recipes have a clove or two of garlic. But this Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus takes the garlic to a whole new level. Not only do we use a few cloves of garlic in the hummus itself, we also sauté a couple cloves and sprinkle them on top.

That extra garlic adds that sharp, slightly sweet flavor of cooked garlic. And it makes for a great texture!

Now that I've talked for a little too long about paprika and garlic, let's talk ingredients.

    Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus

    Ingredients

    • Garlic (both raw and cooked)
    • Chickpeas
    • Aquafaba (liquid from the can of chickpeas)
    • Almond Butter (or other nut-butter or tahini)
    • Lemon Juice
    • Cumin
    • Smoked Paprika (!!)
    • Salt

Pretty simple list. And now for some pretty simple instructions.

How to make Smoked Paprika Garlic Hummus

Step 1. Mince three garlic cloves. An easy way to do this would be to blitz them in the food processor -- you're about to get it dirty anyway, so may as well save yourself the hassle of washing and drying a garlic press.

Step 2. Sauté the garlic in a small pan with some vegetable broth. The garlic will become soft and fragrant.

Step 3. Meanwhile, add a can of chickpeas, some aquafaba, almond butter, a few (other) garlic cloves, lemon juice, cumin, smoked paprika, and salt to the food processor. Process the ingredients until the hummus is smooth, adding aquafaba as needed to create your desired consistency.

Step 4. Transfer the hummus to a bowl and top with the sautéed garlic. Sprinkle with additional smoked paprika. Enjoy!
