This colorful Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte is creamy, vibrant, and sweet. A refreshing and energizing drink layered with green tea and strawberry syrup.

A glass of strawberry matcha latte, with three distinct layers of red syrup, white milk, and green matcha.

A few months ago I made strawberry matcha lattes on a whim (with homemade strawberry syrup too). Turns out, they are absolutely delightful.

There's something about the earthy matcha and the bright, sweet strawberries that combines so well. Plus the creamy milk. So good!

I LOVE me an iced drink (I drink cold brew year round) so I made this latte iced, but feel free to make a hot version too.

Why you'll love this Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte

    • Make at home any time - no need to run to Starbucks, you can make this latte at home without any special equipment
    • Coffee-free energy - matcha gives a calm, steady boost without the crash
    • Strawberry twist - the fruity syrup perfectly complements earthy matcha
    • Dairy-free & vegan - made with oat milk and vegan strawberry syrup
    • Beautifully layered - it's just as pretty as it is delicious

Pro Tip: Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the best flavor and color.

    Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

    • Matcha: use your favorite matcha
    • Hot Water & Cold Water: If you're making an iced latte I recommend mixing the matcha with hot water first. This helps the powder fully emulsify with the water. Then finish with cold water to help cool down the drink. For a hot latte, use warm water only.
    • Oat Milk: oat milk is super smooth, creamy, and delightful in lattes. If you don't want to use oat, you can also use soy. I find that almond milk tastes a little funky in lattes, so I recommend soy milk or oat milk.
    • Strawberry Syrup: I used my strawberry simple syrup. I love keeping some of the pulp and adding it to the lattes for texture. You can also use a store-bought syrup.

Pro Tip: Pour onto the back of a spoon to help keep the layers separate.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1. If using a matcha whisk, soak the whisk in hot water for 5 minutes before using.

Step 2. In your matcha bowl or other small bowl, whisk together the matcha and warm water in an "M" motion.

Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte step 2 - whisk the match and hot water.

Step 3. Add the cold water and whisk again.

Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte step 3 - add the cold water.

Step 4. Add the strawberry syrup to your glass. I like adding some strawberry pulp to the glass, but feel free to just add syrup.

Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte step 4 - add strawberry pulp and syrup to the glass.

Step 5. Add ice to the glass.

Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte step 5 - add ice.

Step 6. Pour your milk over the back of a spoon or carefully onto the ice, to help preserve the layers.

Strawberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte step 6 - pour on the milk.

Step 7. Pour the matcha over the milk. Enjoy immediately.

Pro Tip: Save the strawberry pulp from your syrup and add it to your matcha for some texture!

    FAQ & Expert Tips

Can I make this warm instead of iced?

Yes! Use only warm water in the matcha, skip the ice, and warm the oat milk on the stove or microwave before mixing.

    What oat milk works best?

Barista-style oat milk gives the creamiest texture, but any kind works. The Califia Barista milk froths really well.

How do I keep the layers separate?

Pour slowly and/or over the back of a spoon.

    Can I make other flavors?

Yes! Use this recipe with other syrups.
