Vegan White Bean Pesto Dip is a thick and creamy plant-based pesto. It is thick enough to serve as a dip, yet still incredibly delicious on pasta. Plant-based and oil-free.

I don't know about you, but I'm a HUGE pesto fan. What's not to love? There's the fresh basil. The cheesy taste. And a richness that comes from nuts.
Honestly, it might be the perfect sauce. It tastes amazing on pasta. Or on vegetables. Or as a salad dressing. You could eat it on a sandwich. Or in dip form.
I'm a fan of all of these options, but today we're going to focus in on the dip idea.

Why I love this Vegan Pesto Dip
- Plant-based & dairy-free - most pesto recipes call for parmesan cheese and some sort of oil to create a smooth paste. But you don't need either of those for a delicious pesto!
- Fresh and summery - basil is in season during the summer, and it's bright, minty, peppery flavor makes any dish light and zesty
- So quick and easy - it literally takes 5 minutes to make pesto. Once you have your pesto, you just need the time to cook your pasta. Or serve dip-style with fresh veggies
- Dietary needs - besides being vegan and oil-free, this pesto is also naturally gluten-free and totally sugar-free
- Great as a dip or as a sauce - this pesto is thick from the white beans, so it is a delicious bean dip, but it is also great on pasta

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- White Beans: I used cannellini beans, but you can also use butter beans or great northern beans
- Fresh Basil: the classic pesto ingredient, basil packs in the flavor.
- Pine Nuts
- Nutritional Yeast: flakes of yeast that give the pesto a cheesy flavor.
- Lemon Juice: fresh lemon juice is best
- Salt & Pepper

How to make Vegan White Bean Pesto
Step 1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth.

Step 2. Serve as a dip with chips and veggies or tossed with your favorite pasta.

Expert Tips & FAQ
If you can't eat pine nuts or other nuts, use an equivalent amount of sunflower seeds instead.
Use all spinach. It won't taste exactly the same, but a spinach pesto is still a delicious sauce for pasta.
