This Cherry Matcha Latte combines earthy matcha with sweet homemade cherry syrup for a beautiful layered drink. The fruity cherry flavor balances matcha's grassy notes, an easy café-style drink at home.

My homemade cherry syrup is one of my favorite syrup recipes to date. I LOVE the sweet, almost almond-like cherry flavor and the splash of vanilla at the end makes the syrup irresistible. The perfect balance for a matcha drink.
This cherry matcha is delightful. It's sweet, earthy, and tastes just like summer.
Great as a morning drink or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Why You'll Love This Cherry Matcha Latte
- Beautiful Flavor Combination - sweet cherries and earthy matcha pair surprisingly well
- Coffee Shop Inspired - a trendy café drink made at home
- Easy to Customize - you can easily adjust the sweetness and matcha strength
- Naturally Dairy-Free - this recipe is great any non-dairy milk
- Stunning - layers of cherry syrup, oat milk, and matcha. So pretty!

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Matcha: use your favorite matcha
- Hot Water & Cold Water: If you're making an iced latte I recommend mixing the matcha with hot water first. This helps the powder fully emulsify with the water. Then finish with cold water to help cool down the drink. For a hot latte, use warm water only.
- Milk: I typically make my drinks with soy milk - extra protein! That said, oat milk is super smooth, creamy, and delightful in lattes. I find that almond milk tastes a little funky in lattes, so avoid that unless you already know you like it.
- Cherry Syrup: I used my cherry simple syrup. You can also use a store-bought syrup.

Step-By-Step Instructions
Step 1. If using a matcha whisk, soak the whisk in hot water for 5 minutes before using.

Step 2. Sift the matcha through a fine mesh strainer.

Step 3. In your matcha bowl or other small bowl, whisk together the matcha and warm water in an "M" motion.

Step 4. Add the cold water (or the rest of the hot water for a hot latte) and whisk again.

Step 5. Add ice to the glass. Add your desired amount of raspberry syrup, then your milk, then pour in the matcha.

Elizabeth's Kitchen Notes
- Tips for layering: pour the milk and matcha slowly. For even more control, pour onto the back of a spoon.
- Best milks: oat milk is always going to give you the creamiest texture and is likely what you'd get if you ordered this in a coffee shop. I almost always reach for soy milk - to me the flavor is great and I love the extra protein.
Pro Tip: Sift your matcha before whisking to prevent clumps and create a smoother, more cafe-quality drink.

FAQ & Expert Tips
Yes! Use only warm water in the matcha, skip the ice, and warm the milk on the stove or microwave before mixing.
Barista-style oat milk gives the creamiest texture, but any kind works. I typically use soy milk!
Yes! Use this recipe with other syrups. My strawberry syrup is great with matcha!
