This may be my favorite syrup to date. I love cherries. And I added vanilla to the syrup, so it's basically cherry vanilla syrup. It is fabulous!

This syrup is great for mocktails, matcha, ice cream, and more!

Why You'll Love This Cherry Simple Syrup

    • Bold cherry flavor - this syrup doesn't have an artificial flavor - it's bold and rich, with real cherry flavor
    • Vegan-friendly - made with organic cane sugar, no honey or non-vegan sugars
    • Endlessly versatile - stir it into lemonades, drizzle over pancakes, or mix into sparkling water
    • Perfect for prep - stores well in the fridge, so you'll always have it on hand

    Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

    • Cherries: fresh or frozen cherries. I used frozen for ease, but fresh cherries are perfect too! You'll need a cherry pitter.
    • Sweetener: you can use white sugar (use organic for vegan friendly) or for a less refined version, grab some agave or even maple syrup
    • Water
    • Vanilla: I highly recommend adding vanilla, it really takes this syrup up a notch

    FAQ & Expert Tips

    Can I use frozen cherries?

Yes! I actually recommend this for ease. No need to spend time pitting fresh cherries. And they're available year-round.

How long does cherry simple syrup last?

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.

Do I need to pit the cherries?

Yes. Grab a cherry pitter, and remove pits before simmering for best results.

What's the best sugar for simple syrup?

Organic cane sugar is ideal for a vegan-friendly syrup. Otherwise, any white sugar is perfect. Don't use brown sugar unless your recipe calls for it!
You can also make this simple syrup with agave, for a less refined version.
