This homemade roasted sesame broccoli is inspired by roasted broccoli sold at Bibibop. Simple roasted broccoli with a bold sesame flavor. A great side dish or bowl additions.

Welcome to my homemade Bibibop series!

I'm recreating Bibibop favorites, inspired by ingredients that Bibibop actually uses. Easily made at home - for the flavors you love about Bibibop. Cheaper, meal-preppable, and restaurant-style at any time!

This is my sesame broccoli recipe! I love the roasted sesame broccoli topping when I go to Bibibop. It always has a lovely roasted flavor, with those notes of sesame. It feels like a spin on another favorite broccoli recipe of mine, oil-free roasted broccoli. I could just eat it by the bowlful.

    Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

    • Broccoli: I typically buy broccoli crowns. For this recipe, I like to cut the broccoli into longer pieces, to mimic the long-stem look at Bibibop.
    • Sesame Oil: I love using toasted sesame oil for even more flavor. If you want to keep this recipe oil-free, feel free to toss with water instead of oil. Then at the end, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
    • Salt & Pepper

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 425℉. Slice the broccoli into florets - I like to keep the long stems to mimic the way they cut at Bibibop.

Step 2. Transfer the broccoli florets to a baking sheet and add the oil, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to evenly distribute the seasonings.

Bibibop sesame broccoli step 2 - toss with oil, salt, and pepper.

Step 3. Bake at for 12-15 minutes, until the broccoli is browned.

Bibibop sesame broccoli step 3 - roast.

    Can I use frozen broccoli?

Yes! Pre-roast the broccoli for about 10 minutes before adding the oil, salt, and pepper. Then roast per the recipe instructions.

Can I make sesame broccoli ahead of time?

Yes! This broccoli reheats well and keeps great in the fridge.

**I love using toasted sesame oil for even more flavor. If you want to keep this recipe oil-free, feel free to toss with water instead of oil. Then at the end, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
I also typically use closer to 1 tablespoon of oil, for a low-oil approach. But up to 2 tablespoons is more of a standard amount.
